Painting the Modern Garden

A tour of the stunning exhibition at the Royal Academy

Filmed April 2016, 85 mins.

Claude Monet was perhaps the most important painter of gardens in history but other artists like Van Gogh, Bonnard, Pissarro and Matisse also took the garden as a subject. All these artists and many others were featured in a wonderful exhibition at The Royal Academy in London and The Cleveland Museum of Art in the USA this year, which we can visit by seeing this film. We do not merely see the pictures but are guided by passionate curators, artists and garden enthusiasts as we go round.

Like the film of the ballet Cinderella, which we showed in December 2015, Painting the Modern Garden is something you will not be able to see elsewhere and we are obliged, unfortunately, to charge more for tickets than we usually do. They will be £7.50 each -- but for art-lovers and gardeners alike, well worth it, we are sure.
